Find the outdated facts

Paste text from a textbook, card or web page: the tool finds names of Korea's legally protected species and shows whether the legal class and world danger level (IUCN) it states are current or an earlier value, with the source and date of the current value.

What is each verdict based on?

Paper 15 audited endangered-species texts on learning cards and two government portals. Of 26 wrong statements, 4 were old values left after a list changed, and no text invented a status. Of 288 grade statements in the NIBR texts, 9 still gave the pre-2022 class. This tool applies the same rule: a value that differs from the current one is checked against every Annex 1 list since 2005 and the world danger rating history, and called an earlier value if it was once true, or a value not in the history if it never was. Classes come from the seven Annex 1 lists (paper 09, Korean Law Information Center), world danger level from K-EndangeredBench v1.0.9 and the assessment history of paper 07. Pasted text is read only in this browser.

How to run it

  1. Paste a card, field guide, web page or textbook page the students brought, and look at the results together.
  2. When an ‘earlier value’ appears, point to the date of the change and talk about the difference between wrong and out of date.
  3. With the worksheet, each group checks a different material and rewrites the status with a date.
  4. Statements other than status, such as diet or numbers, are checked separately against a source.
